LIT HOUSE

 Tasks Accomplished

  • Assisted in creating brand materials for events and social media
  • Created illustrations for brand icons
  • Designed advertisements for social media
  • Designed various signs for events

While working as an intern and a as contracted designer at AAMBC Inc., I was assigned a number of tasks to help launch and promote their brand Lit House. My designs included social media ads to market their events, signage, and apparel for the workers. Below are some of my personal favorite designs as well as ones that were well received by other team members.

INSTAGRAM ICONS

To help create the basics of the Lit House brand, I created icons for their Instagram reels. I made five icons intended for the various artistic endeavors at Lit House. Including a book for literature, a quill for poetry, a paintbrush for art, a treble clef for music, and a clapper board for films. I used the brand’s pink, yellow, and red colors to create a noisy texture gradient to create a masked out icon, as well as a noise texture with an off white color to make the icon stand out more.

SWEEPSTAKES CAROUSEL

To help launch Lit House the team wanted to make a sweepstakes to offer a trip to their first event in New Orleans. Originally I made an 8-page carousel that used a continuous gradient that connected with each swipe. I was later asked to make an addition to the post with a unique image to get the attention of people on Instagram. I used an image provided with a color overlay to give it a unique appearance and added the text “ENTER TO WIN A TRIP TO ESSENCE” over it to contrast the color and stand out.

GET YOUR COINS PANEL

For the Get Your Coins Panel, I wanted to make a post that would be colorful and stand out among the other darker posts made on the Instagram page. To do that I made a vibrant gradient for the background and gray text, along with a bright pink square to highlight the panelists with white text.

SOULFUL STORIES

For their Soulful Stories event, I wanted to follow a similar plan for Get You Coins. To stand out among the darker designs on the page, I used another noisy gradient and bright pink squares to pop out on the design.

SHIRT DESIGNS

For the staff shirts, I was told to make a minimal design that still utilizes the brand’s gradient scheme. I made a few variations until I settled on a gradient that works well with both black and white shirts. Due to limited funding, the white shirts with the gradient text were the only ones produced.

SIGNAGE

For signage at Lit House’s events, I was tasked with making a large 8ftx8ft banner, and a series of poster boards for specific event locations. For the large banner, I originally created a simple graphic with a gradient and the stacked logotype. I was asked to modify the banner with a picture of flowers and foliage, so I added them as a border among the design. For the poster boards, I followed a theme of a gradient over a picture, and a white area on the bottom to hold text pertaining to the event information.
