LIT DIARIES

 Tasks Accomplished

  • Designed advertisements for social media and print purposes
  • Designed merchandise for the bookstore
  • Designed brand materials for events

While working as an intern and as a contracted designer at AAMBC Inc., I was assigned a number of tasks to help promote their bookstore/event venue: Lit Diaries. My designs included social media ads, print flyers, and merchandise to be sold at and used during events. I was also tasked with creating brand materials for events. Below are some of my personal favorite designs as well as ones that were well received by other team members.

INDIE DAY BOOK EXPO

For their Love Letter Writing Class I was told to give it a Valentine’s Day feel while adhering to the brand guides. Using the brand’s dark purple color as a background, I contrasted it with the brighter yellow and pink to stand out while browsing social media. I added my own icons of the love letters to accompany the Valentine’s vibe.

INDIE DAY BOOK EXPO

For their Book Expo event I was told to give it a Valentine’s Day feel while adhering to the brand guides. Using the brighter brand colors of pink and orange I wanted to create a unique contrast with the dark purple to stand out while browsing social media. I framed the body copy and date within a heart to bring attention to the details of the event.

THE MIDDLE DAUGHTER

For the release of Chika Unigwe’s book: The Middle Daughter, I was tasked with creating an ad for Instagram and Eventbrite. I was given an example to follow with a minimal design that also features the book, Robyn Lucas and Chika Unigwe. I used the brand’s pink color with a collage of the speakers and book to stand out.

FOR THE CULTURE

For their Cultural Festival event, I was assigned to use photos of the other events and give off a feel of African Culture. Using the brand colors purple, green, and orange, I created a colored mask over past events to make each photo more unique and applied a traditional African pattern over it all to give off a more cultural vibe.

SUPPORT POST

To help raise funds for Lit Diaries, I was tasked with a promotional carousel post informing the public on how to help. I used the brand fonts and colors, as well as a photo of the building and a photo of one of the events.

PILLOWS

For merchandise to be sold at Lit Diaries, I was asked to create a variety of designs using a list of quotes and phrases. I mixed and matched the designs with the brand’s colors to create a series of friendly and positive designs.

SUMMER CAMP SHIRTS

For their Summer Camp event, I was tasked with making the official shirts. Since the event was targeted toward a younger crowd, the team decided to appeal to children’s love of superpowers and apply that to the writing-based activities of the camp. To add a bit more to the design I added an illustration of a bookshelf in the same design as the brand’s logo.
